Hello!! My name is Savannah Schrickel and I am a freshmen here at Washburn University. I am actually from Topeka so it is nice that I can stay at home and close to my family. What I spend most of my free time doing is dancing at Barbara's Conservatory of Dance and performing in full length ballets such as The Nutcracker, Cinderella, Sleeping Beauty, and many more. I have been dancing at Barbara's Conservatory of Dance since I was 4 years old and during my time there I have danced many styles like classical ballet, lyrical, Broadway jazz, tap, and many others. But when I am not spending hours and hours at the studio I love watching movies and TV shows (especially award shows). One other interesting thing about me is that I love to knit. Although I am not an expert, it is a great thing to do if I am bored and have nothing else to do.
My love of movies and television is actually why I wanted to study Mass Media. I hope in the future I am lucky enough to work in the television or movie industry. I don't have an exact idea of what I would like to do but just being able to work in that industry would be a dream come true. So I know being in this department will help me gain the knowledge I need to accomplish my dream.
I am so excited to see what this semester brings as well as the rest of my time at Washburn!!
